Complete Streets Work Group

Senate Concurrent Resolution 110, "A concurrent resolution To urge and request formation of a Complete Streets Work Group in the Department of Transportation and Development."

During the 2009 Louisiana State Legislature session, the Senate put forward Concurrent Resolution 110,
"A concurrent resolution To urge and request formation of a Complete Streets Work Group in the Department of Transportation and Development." SRC 110, co-sponsored by 24 Senators and 24 Representatives, passed both Houses and was filed with the Secretary of State, 2009 June 25. The full text of SCR 110 is available online via the state legislature's Web site:

A PDF of the document is also available below.

SCR 110 requires the Secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) to convene the first meeting of the Work Group no later than 2009 September 01 and to hold at least three further meetings of the Work Group prior to the secretary's presentation of the final report to the legislative committees in 2010.

A group of some 20 representatives from a number of state and local agencies, including B.R.A.S.S., met in August to begin the process of developing a Complete Streets program for Louisiana.
The first meeting provided attendees a chance to meet, exchange ideas, and set the ground work for the coming action. On September 22, the group meet again for a full-day Complete Streets workshop that provides all members of the group a common ground and common language as we move forward in designing this important legislation. The group twice more through early December to work out the details and polish the Complete Streets Work Group Interim Report. This interim report was prepared for the Secretary of Transportation to submit to the Senate and House Committees on transportation, highways and public
works no later than January 31, 2010.

That report is now in hand! A PDF of the interim report is attached below. Please feel free to read it, distribute it, and bring it to the attention of your state senator and representative for their support during the 2010 legislative session.

B.R.A.S.S. welcomes your thoughts on Complete Streets. Please send your ideas, comments, and suggestions to us at info@brsafestrets.org
